Client Overview

Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) is a federal nonprofit, self-funded agency part of the U.S. Department of Energy. BPA markets wholesale electrical power from 31 federal hydro projects in the Columbia River Basin, one nonfederal nuclear plant and other plants. About one-third of the electric power used in the Northwest comes from BPA. As part of its responsibilities it promotes energy efficiency, renewable resources and the development of new technologies and processes.

Project Challenge

EnSoftek supported BPA, as an 8(a) subcontractor, on multiple different projects including the Enterprise Process Improvement Program (TEPIP). TEPIP is comprised of six projects, which are: Work Planning and Scheduling System (WPSS), Transmission Asset System (TAS), Field Connectivity (FCP), Enterprise GIS (eGIS), Supplemental Labor Information Management (SLIM), and eCommerce. EnSoftek was involved in a major efficiency initiative aimed at increasing the overall operational efficiency of a multi-billion organization. EnSoftek’s support ranges from strategic planning, enterprise architecture, data management and IT transformation and strategy in a diverse and extremely demanding environment, with homeland security concerns.


Effectively managing a plethora of IT project management activities for various projects using PMP certified managers.

Providing full software life-cycle development support using “Agile” development methodologies.

Assisting in PeopleSoft and Business Objects implementation and maintenance support.

Providing Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing support.

Developing and maintaining an integral view of the business architecture required supporting the creation of change and the management of Business Operations.

Developing innovative business applications and interfaces, in a diverse and extremely demanding environment, with homeland security concerns.

Assisted in the development of the Transmission Business Line’s business architecture

Project Results

Aided in the development of comprehensive IT strategy which has led to cost savings.

Implemented tools such as SharePoint 2010 Workflows that provide unprecedented visibility in tracking department wide information and productivity statistics.

Developed and implemented Web Service and Web application methodologies which are re-usable and reduce the time associated with new project/program software developments.

Implemented SQL Server Reporting Services to enhance reports so information can be presented in an intuitive and self-explanatory manner, thereby reducing support and training requirements.
